Before anything clinical

You might be feeling a few things right now.

Getting to this page is often its own small act of courage. Whatever brought you here, it's worth naming.

Overwhelmed

Naming a lifelong pattern out loud — to a stranger, in a form, on a waiting list — can feel bigger than it should. That's a reasonable response, not an overreaction.

Unsure of yourself

Maybe you've spent years compensating, explaining, or wondering if you're "making too much of it." Seeking an assessment doesn't mean you weren't managing — it means you deserve more than managing.

Relieved, even hopeful

For a lot of people, the strongest feeling isn't dread — it's relief at finally being taken seriously. That's allowed too, and it's usually a good sign.

Whichever of these is closest — or none of them — you're welcome to bring it with you. The rest of this page is the practical part.

Why we exist

You deserve care that truly sees you.

At Focus Health Clinic, we believe that caring for people extends beyond the consulting room. We provide GP-led ADHD assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management — with a focus on understanding the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

Whether you're seeking clarity for the first time or continuing care that began elsewhere, you'll find a practice built on patience, clinical rigour, and genuine partnership. ADHD and wellbeing, together — because one rarely exists without the other.

No. You do not need a referral to book an ADHD assessment.

However, a referral letter and health summary from your regular GP may be helpful, particularly if you have complex medical conditions or previous mental health treatment.

Yes, but you will first need an initial consultation with Dr Sudhir Anand.

Your psychologist's assessment, medical history, and current symptoms will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate treatment plan. In many cases, this will involve a summary medical assessment to confirm that all relevant diagnostic and prescribing requirements have been met before medication can be safely started.

Please provide your psychologist's report and any relevant medical records before your appointment to help streamline the assessment.

The clinic currently provides ADHD assessments for adults and older adolescents (17 years and over).

The assessment is completed over several appointments. It includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical and mental health history, screening questionnaires, review of any previous reports, and, where appropriate, information from a family member or partner. This allows a comprehensive assessment before a diagnosis or treatment recommendations are made.

Most assessments are completed over three appointments:

  • ·Initial Consultation
  • ·Comprehensive ADHD Assessment
  • ·Assessment Review, Diagnosis and Management Plan

Additional appointments may occasionally be required depending on your individual circumstances.

The assessment process is completed over several appointments rather than a single visit, allowing adequate time for a thorough and individualised assessment.

The full ADHD assessment pathway has a fixed total gap of $750 for all patients.

Please see our Full Fee Breakdown for details of each appointment, Medicare rebates (where applicable), booking deposits, and payment information.

Yes. Following completion of your assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report summarising the assessment findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and management recommendations.

Not always.

If medication is appropriate, it may be started once all necessary medical assessments have been completed and it is considered safe to prescribe. Some patients may require blood tests, an ECG, urine drug screening, or other investigations before medication can be commenced.

Yes. The clinic provides ongoing follow-up appointments for medication reviews, dose optimisation (titration), monitoring of treatment, and long-term ADHD management.

In many cases, ongoing prescribing can be shared with your regular GP once your medication is stable. This will depend on your individual circumstances and your GP's willingness to participate in shared care.

Please complete any questionnaires sent to you before your appointment and email any relevant reports, previous assessments, specialist letters, or medical records.

Providing this information beforehand helps streamline the assessment process.
